Kuala Lumpur stock market's benchmark index opened marginally higher, up by 0.32 of a point to 1,600.41 points, from Thursday's close of 1,600.09 points.
As at 9:39am, the index moved up by 3.17 points to 1,603.26 points.
Utilities stock YTL Corporation Bhd advanced 18 sen, or 7.06%, to RM2.73, and was the most actively traded blue-chip counter recording a turnover of 35,496,800 shares/units. In the past five days, YTL recorded a cumulative price surge amounting to 25.35%.
Meanwhile, YTL Power International Bhd, also a utilities listing, surged nine sen, or 2.21%, to RM4.17 on a volume of 17,107,400 shares/units. YTL Power's shares gained a cumulative 12.74% in the past five days.
