日本制铁:白宫施加不当影响以阻其收购美国钢铁

Japan Iron and Steel: The White House exerted improper influence to block its acquisition of United States Steel.

Global Market News ·  Dec 22, 2024 20:09

Japan Steel stated that during the National Security review by US authorities regarding the acquisition of United States Steel for 14.9 billion USD, the White House exerted "unacceptable undue influence" on the company. They also threatened that if the Trade is hindered, legal action would be taken. Media reports indicate that the lawyers for Japan Steel and United States Steel made these allegations in a letter to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) on December 17. Previously, it was reported that CFIUS raised concerns about supposedly unresolved National Security risks in a 29-page letter over the weekend, providing arguments for Biden, who has long opposed the merger, to block the Trade. In their response, Japan Steel and United States Steel refuted CFIUS's arguments, claiming that Biden exerted undue influence on the review outcomes before the committee reached its conclusion.
