Macro Tech Ventures Sdn Bhd (Borong), in partnership with Maybank Islamic, has launched Salaam Market, Malaysia's first Business-to-Business (B2B) Halal Marketplace. The platform was inaugurated at the Penang International Halal Expo 2024 (PIHEX) on Dec 7, officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Utama Anwar Bin Ibrahim.
Salaam Market aims to advance Malaysia's Halal industry, projected to grow to US$113.2 billion(RM507.7 billion) by 2030. In his opening speech, the Prime Minister underscored the significance of economic development, investment, and trade in the Halal sector.
Maybank Islamic's Strategic Programme Director, Dr Muhd Ramadhan Fitri Ellias, said, "Salaam Market is one of Maybank Islamic's beyond banking propositions in supporting the needs of local MSMEs to complete the Halal ecosystem."
Borong co-founder Aizat Rahim added that the platform tackles challenges such as affordability and accessibility, leveraging Maybank Islamic's financing solutions and JAKIM's Halal certification support.
The platform aims to onboard 10,000 MSMEs by 2025. A limited-time discount of RM100 on purchases of RM250 or more is available until Jan 1, 2025.
