$Rigetti Computing (RGTI.US)$ shares jumped 15% after the company announced the public launch of its 84-qubit Ankaa-3 system, the company's latest flagship quantum computer.
The Ankaa-3 features a comprehensive hardware redesign that delivers enhanced performance. In addition, Rigetti achieved significant milestones in two-qubit gate fidelity with Ankaa-3: successfully reducing error rates by half in 2024, reaching a median iSWAP gate fidelity of 99.0%, and demonstrating a 99.5% median fidelity for fSim gates.
Ankaa-3 is now accessible to partners through the Rigetti Quantum Cloud Services (QCS®) platform and will be available on Amazon Braket and Microsoft Azure starting in the first quarter of 2025. Users can leverage these higher fidelity, universal iSWAP gates for a variety of algorithmic research, with a median gate time of 72 nanoseconds.
Additionally, the faster, more specialized fSim gates (with a median gate time of 56 nanoseconds) are ideal for specific algorithms like random circuit sampling, as recently showcased on Google’s Willow system.
The Ankaa-3 system retains Rigetti’s scalable, industry-leading chip architecture with 3D signal delivery, while introducing significant improvements to key technologies. Utilizing the company’s full-stack expertise and in-house quantum foundry capabilities, Ankaa-3 showcases Rigetti’s commitment to delivering progressively higher-performance quantum computers.
