Tesla executive Zhu Xiaotong said on Wednesday that the company's “unique” advantage lies in developing manufacturing capabilities at a faster pace.
“Many people have underestimated Tesla's unique advantage: developing manufacturing capabilities optimized for the rapidly evolving AI era,” Zhu Xiaotong said in a post on the X platform.
He added: “Once the automotive industry transitions to fully autonomous driving, the real competition will focus on the productivity of cars. We'll be ready.”
Zhu Xiaotong also quoted Bruce Lee as saying, “Speed is not only the ability to move fast, but also the ability to adapt quickly. It synchronizes body and mind, eliminates unnecessary movements, and focuses on precision. The essence of speed is not haste, but efficiency.”
Zhu Xiaotong is responding to an electric vehicle analyst Sawyer Merritt's post about Tesla's Shanghai Energy Storage Gigafactory, which is about to be completed and is scheduled to be put into operation in the first quarter of next year. Merritt wrote, “It only took 7 months from breaking ground to completion, and is 50% faster than Tesla's Megapack plant in California.”
