Swift Haulage To Establish Cold Chain Network With SCGJWD

Business Today ·  Jan 7 03:18

Swift Haulage Bhd is partnering up with JWD Asia Holding Pte Ltd (JAH), a subsidiary of Thailand-listed SCGJWD Logistics PCL, to establish an extensive cold chain network across Peninsular Malaysia. This initiative will encompass temperature-controlled warehousing and transportation services, addressing the growing demand for specialised logistics solutions in the region.

The initial joint venture (JV) plan includes a joint investment comprising 10,000 pallet cold chain storage spaces at the Shah Alam International Logistics Hub (SAILH) in Selangor.

Additionally, feasibility studies are underway for a cold chain facility at Swift Haulage's Tebrau Warehouse in Johor Bahru, with a proposed capacity of 11,000 pallets featuring advanced Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems to address regional demand.

The JV company will be 51% owned by Swift Haulage and 49% by JAH, with operations targeting urban markets in Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Johor. Should the Tebrau facility materialise, it is expected to leverage Malaysia's cost advantages to deliver efficient and affordable logistics solutions to the Singapore market.

According to Swift Haulage Group Chief Executive Officer Loo Yong Hui, the JV seeks to capitalise on the rising demand for temperature-controlled logistics in various industries, including fast-moving consumer goods, perishable food items and temperature-sensitive products such as pharmaceuticals and agricultural produce.

Loo highlighted that the cold chain facility at SAILH is set to commence operations in the first quarter of 2026, with further updates on the Tebrau cold chain facility to be shared as the plans progress.
