Autonomous driving technology company Aurora, automotive supplier Continental and Nvidia have reached a long-term strategic partnership to join forces to deploy driverless trucks on a large scale.
The Zhitong Finance App learned that autonomous driving technology company Aurora (AUR.US), automobile supplier Continental (Continental), and NVDA.US (NVDA.US) have reached a long-term strategic partnership and will join forces to deploy driverless trucks on a large scale.
The partnership will utilize Nvidia's next-generation DRIVE Thor SoC platform and DriveOS, which will be integrated into the SAE Level 4 autonomous driving system Aurora Driver.
Mass production of these driverless trucks is scheduled for 2027, and initial service is scheduled to be launched in Texas in April 2025.
As Continental and Aurora prepare for mass production of autonomous driving hardware in 2027, mass production samples of DRIVE Thor will be launched in the first half of 2025.
Continental will be testing prototypes of future hardware kits over the next few months.
Aruna Anand, president and CEO of Continental's automotive sub-group North America: “Developing, industrializing, and manufacturing powerful autonomous driving hardware on a commercial scale requires unique and unrivaled expertise.” He added: “Our industry-first partnership with Aurora and Nvidia to provide driverless trucks puts Continental at the cutting edge of this cutting-edge technology and will bring value to our business.”
