Company Overview
Founded on July 3, 1924 (Taisho 13), Yamatane <9305> was established by Shuji Yamazaki as a wholesaler of polished rice, celebrating its 100th anniversary in the fiscal year ending March 2025. Originating in the food business of rice wholesale and retail, the company has expanded its business areas to meet the rapidly changing social conditions and market needs. Currently, it is a comprehensive service company that operates four main businesses: logistics (domestic and international), food (rice wholesale and processed food wholesale), information (technical support for mainframes and software development, sales, and support), and real estate (rental of office buildings primarily).
Founder Shuji Yamazaki believed that gaining people's trust is the fundamental principle of everything, and he adhered to the phrase "Trust is the foundation of all things." By acting sincerely in all aspects, he earned significant trust, laying the foundation of the company, a principle that continues to be upheld today. Furthermore, the founder was always conscious of the saying "Work one ryō with your body, think five ryō with your mind" by the daimyo Uesugi Yozan from the mid-Edo period. Under the meaning of this saying, the company aims to create new services by further integrating the four interconnected businesses it has.
The company was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in October 1950. Starting with the merger of warehouse companies, it advanced the establishment of sales offices (warehouse bases) and expanded its logistics business, entering the A-REIT ETF business in October 1962. After merging with Yamata Rice Co., Ltd. in October 1989, the company changed its name to its current name, Yamatarne Co., Ltd., in August 1995. In February 1993, it acquired IATA agent qualifications and joined OMNI in October of the same year, building a foundation for international logistics. In March 1998, it obtained SBS import trading company qualifications for further enhancement. In April 2022, it made Shinyo Logistics Co., Ltd., specializing in frozen and ambient food transport, a subsidiary, and in October 2023, it made Shokkai, a Wholesale Trade company focused on prepared foods, with five original brands across three categories of frozen, refrigerated, and ambient products, a subsidiary.
