Another technology company moves out of California Buffett's "new" Snowflake cancels its California headquarters

Snowflake, which made IPO, the largest software in the US stock market last year, announced that it had closed its headquarters in California, becoming another technology company to move out of California.

Snowflake said it would no longer have its corporate headquarters, but under US SEC rules, it would set up a "main executive office" in Bozeman, Montana, a small city of less than 50, 000 people, as its CEO and CFO residence.

However, Snowflake will still have a huge business in Silicon Valley and recently even carried out a massive redesign of its office in San Mateo to prepare for the return of employees.

"although San Mateo is still an important address for us, we no longer have a separate office in the operations center of Snowflake," a company spokesman said in an email.

The company's move to cancel its California headquarters follows a trend that began during the pandemic last year. Palantir moved to Colorado before that. Oracle(Oracle) and Hewlett-PackardThe corporate company (Hewlett Packard Enterprise) moved to Texas. Many companies have merged offices and pulled out of San Francisco Bay area leases, allowing employees to choose where to work. There are many reasons for them to move out of California, including the high cost of living, high taxes and an environment increasingly seen as bad for businesses.

Snowflake, which employs about 2500 people, has been telecommuting for months. Frank Srutman (Frank Slootman), CEO of the company, said in January that after the epidemic forced people to work from home, it was clear that the old way of working would not come back. "it will really reduce the real estate footprint of companies."
