In accordance with the Railways Ordinance (Cap. 519), the Government gazetted the relevant railway scheme for the provision of additional railway stations at Siu Ho Wan.
The Chief Executive announced in his 2020 Policy address that the development of the MTR Corporation Limited (MTRCL) Siu Ho Wan depot site is expected to provide a total of about 20 000 public and private housing units in the medium to long term. To cope with the development and to cater for the transport needs of the residents, the MTRCL proposes to provide an additional railway station for the Tung Chung Line at Siu Ho Wan.
The Government and the MTRCL have earlier collected views and suggestions on the railway scheme in the Islands District Council. The construction of the proposed railway station will commence as soon as the railway scheme is approved to tie in with the timetable for the first batch of population of the Siu Ho Wan depot development project to move in around 2030.
