Queen Elizabeth II's income was hit hard by the COVID-19 epidemic, with the income of visitors to the royal palace falling 53 per cent in the 2020-21 fiscal year because of blockades and travel restrictions.
Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle in the UK and Holyrood Palace in Scotland are usually royal homes open to tourists, but royal income fell to £9.4 million in 2020-21 from £20.2 million in the previous fiscal year, according to annual accounts released on Thursday by (Crown Estate), the royal property management company, as these palaces were closed to tourists during the outbreak.
British taxpayers provided £85.9 million to the Queen during the 2020-21 fiscal year, of which £51.5 million was spent on official travel, property maintenance and the operating costs of the royal family, according to the annual report. Another 34.4 million pounds will be spent on renovating Buckingham Palace in London.
