Prada's reported sales recovered from last year's epidemic blockade, allowing the Italian fashion brand to join luxury companies that report strong demand for their products.
The company reported on Thursday that net retail sales surged 60 per cent at a fixed exchange rate to 1.5 billion euros ($1.78 billion) in the first half, higher than analysts' expectations of 1.44 billion euros.
Co-CEO and designer Miuccia Prada has been sharing the creative leadership of her eponymous brand with Belgian designer Raf Simons since April 2020.
Citigroup analyst Thomas Chauvet wrote in a note to clients last month that the two men will lead Prada to further expand its share of the handbag and clothing market and predict that the company's revenue growth will improve.
Prada's operating profit rebounded to 166 million euros in the first half, surpassing the 150 million euros in the same period in 2019 before the outbreak.
"sales momentum will remain strong in the second half of this year," Patrizio Bertelli, co-chief executive, said in a statement.
