Original title: 36 business groups in the United States sent a letter to the Biden government calling for resumption of negotiations with China to reduce import tariffs source: CCTV News client
Us retailers, chipmakers, farmers and nearly 36 of the most influential business groups wrote to Trade Representative Dai Qi and Treasury Secretary Yellen on August 5 local time, calling on the Biden government to restart negotiations with China and cut import tariffs so as not to drag down the US economy.
The letter said that China had met the "important benchmarks and commitments" in the first phase of the trade agreement in 2020, including opening up markets to US financial institutions and reducing some US regulatory obstacles to Chinese agricultural exports. The US government should also give priority to the interests of its own workers when formulating policies and eliminate tariffs that harm US interests by raising costs. (CCTV reporter Liu Xiaoqian)
