Pemex's offshore platform caught fire because it was unable to re-inject natural gas into its fields, reducing its oil production by 444000 barrels a day, according to a document released on Monday.
At least one person was killed and five missing when an explosion occurred on the E-Ku-A2 platform of Mexico's national oil company on Sunday. The Mexican oil company said the fire was brought under control hours later.
Crude oil production fell from 719000 barrels a day before the accident to nearly 275000 barrels a day on Monday morning, according to documents. It is unclear whether Pemex will be able to recover at least some of the lost production.
