谷歌将强制返回办公室的计划推迟到2022年 因新冠病例激增

Alphabet Inc-CL CThe date on which employees have to return to the office has been postponed to after January 10, due to the resurgence of COVID-19 cases in many countries around the world and the uncertainty of the epidemic.

Alphabet Inc. CEO Sundar Pichai sent a memo to employees on Tuesday that going back to the office is optional at least until Jan. 10. Once it is decided to ask employees to return to the office, the company will notify them 30 days in advance. However, Pichai did not specify the date on which employees in the United States or elsewhere must return to the office.

"after January 10, we will allow countries and regions to decide when to end voluntary work from home based on local conditions," Pichai wrote.

Alphabet Inc-CL C had previously postponed the mandatory return to the office until October 18. The Internet giant has said it will require employees to work in a "mixed" mode, with about 60 per cent returning to their pre-epidemic offices. In August, Alphabet Inc-CL C approved 85 per cent of requests from employees to work remotely or change offices after the office was fully reopened.

Alphabet Inc-CL C's decision to postpone his return to the office again is similar to that of other major technology companies. Facebook IncAmerican employees were recently informed that there was no need to go back to the office until January next year. AppleAlso postponed the plan to return to the office.
