The White House is pressuring major US airlines to enforce mandatory orders for employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 by December 8, Reuters said on Oct. 1, citing sources.
According to sources, American Airlines, Delta Airlines and Southwest Airlines all do business with the federal government and meet the government's definition of a federal contractor, so the three airlines and their employees must comply with the government's vaccine requirements for contractors and be vaccinated against COVID-19 by December 8.
It is reported that the White House COVID-19 response Coordinator spoke with the CEOs of the three airlines on Sept. 30 local time to ensure that they quickly develop and implement vaccination requirements before the deadline. At present, the three airlines confirmed that they had made phone calls with the White House, but declined to give further details. (CCTV reporter Yin Yue and Xu Jie)
