Chinese Stocks Rise as Banks, Baijiu Makers Gain -- Market Talk

0200 GMT - Chinese stocks are higher in early trade with banks and baijiu makers broadly higher. Optimism about Covid-19 treatment developments and a further economic reopening are supporting sentiment even as China's current Covid-19 resurgence and real-estate industry problems remain in focus, IG says. Wuliangye Yibin rises 0.2% and Luzhou Laojiao advances 1.1%. China Merchants Bank is up 0.3%, Industrial Bank is 0.9% and Shanghai Pudong Development Bank rises 0.5%. The Shanghai Compsite Index is 0.2% higher at 3505.54, the Shenzhen Composite Index gains 0.3% to 2425.72 and the ChiNext Price Index rises 0.2% to 3388.08. (yongchang.chin@wsj.com)
