Meanwhile, private equity firms, including Blackstone Group Inc, Brookfield Asset Management and Vista Equity Partners, have ruled out participation, according to people familiar with the matter.

Musk announced last Thursday that he plans to buy Twitter for $54.20 a share, valuing it at about $43.4 billion.

Musk is currently the richest man in the world, with a fortune of about $261 billion, but much of it is linked to Tesla, Inc. 's stock. Analysts say Mr Musk has a variety of options to fund the bid, including selling some of the shares, using them as collateral for loans, raising debt financing, or bringing in investment partners.

In addition to raising money, Mr Musk must win the support of Twitter's board for a successful bid. Although Twitter has not yet rejected Musk's offer, it has launched a "poison pill" program to block Musk's acquisition.
