Qingling Motors (Group) Co., Ltd. is a key enterprise in China's automobile industry. It is an enterprise group engaged in commercial truck manufacturing comprised of 18 enterprises with 17 subsidiaries and branches, a core enterprise with Sino-Japanese joint ventures and overseas listings. Total assets are 13.2 billion yuan and net assets are 10.5 billion yuan. Currently, Isuzu mainly produces a full range of light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles of the international advanced technology quality level, and 5 series diesel engines and 1 series of gasoline engines with power from 95 horsepower to 380 horsepower. The predecessor of Qingling, the Chongqing Automobile Factory, began producing imitation cars of the Liberation “Shancheng” brand in 1969. In 1985, Isuzu established the first Sino-foreign joint venture in Chongqing and issued shares overseas in 1994; it issued convertible bonds overseas in 1997; in 2005, Japan's Isuzu increased its capital and shares of Qingling Motor Co., Ltd., and China and Japan implemented joint operations to comprehensively deepen cooperation in technology, management, markets, capital, etc.; in recent years, opening up to the outside world has taken a new strategic step. Since construction of the heavy vehicle and heavy vehicle engine projects began in February 2013, both China and foreign countries have overcome difficulties and advanced rapidly and steadily. The first phase of the project (one series of heavy vehicles, one series of engines) is making every effort: the first heavy vehicle engine went offline in March this year, the first heavy vehicle went offline in April, the first batch of 12 trial sales vehicles was delivered to customers in May, and unveiled at the Chongqing Auto Show in June. The initial localization rate of this heavy vehicle and heavy engine reached more than 85%. The second phase of the project (another series of heavy vehicles and engines) is in preparation for commencement. Qingling uses advanced technology to transform traditional industries, build a manufacturing system with development functions, and form a complete process manufacturing chain from blank, component, and assembly manufacturing to vehicle assembly. It has manufacturing capacity for 3 types of foundation blanks and 6 types of key assemblies for the engine, transmission, cab, front/rear axle, and frame. It has 6 important mold development capabilities for thin plate, medium plate, casting, forging, cast aluminum and plastic, car body and chassis development, partial engine development, material development, process tooling development, and physico-chemical inspection and testing capabilities. Among automobile companies in the country, Qingling ranked first in per capita labor productivity, per capita sales, and per capita profit; in 2010, it won the “China Top 10 Trucks” and ranked 5th; won the “First Chongqing Mayor's Quality Management Award”; and was named “Chongqing's Top 50 Industrial Enterprises” for 20 consecutive years, ranking first for eight years.
