Phoenix TV began broadcasting on March 31, 1996. With the aim of “bringing Chinese people closer to the world,” every effort is made to provide high-quality Chinese-language TV programs to Chinese people around the world. The huge global market combined with a successful expansion strategy enabled Phoenix TV to develop into a multinational multimedia group with a reputation in the international community. The Group's Phoenix TV Chinese Channel, Phoenix TV Information Station, Phoenix TV Europe, Phoenix TV America, and Phoenix TV Movie Station cover more than 150 countries and regions in Asia Pacific, Europe, America, the Middle East and Africa through AsiaSat-3S, ChinaSat-6b, Eurobird, Telsat-12, Directv, Echostar, G3-C, Satmex-6, and BellExpressVU. In addition to television, the Group is also committed to developing other diversified businesses, including weekly magazines, publishing, new media and broadcasting. In cooperation with Beijing People's Radio, the “Beijing Simultaneous Advertising Communication Co., Ltd.” was formed to expand the domestic radio advertising and other business cooperation markets. On June 8, 2006, China Mobile (Hong Kong) Group Co., Ltd. took a stake in Phoenix TV and formed a strategic alliance with Phoenix TV to jointly develop, promote and distribute mobile content, products, services and new media applications. Phoenix TV Holdings Limited was listed on the GEM board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on June 30, 2000. On December 5, 2008, Phoenix TV Holdings Limited was listed on the Main Board (stock code: 2008) Phoenix TV has received many excellent results since its establishment 11 years ago: in the US “Fortune” magazine's Gallup survey on “Chinese Brand Perception”, Phoenix TV was selected as one of the most famous brands in mainland China and the only media agency selected; Phoenix TV was included in the “Asia Weekly” Top 500 list for 6 consecutive years; it was named “China's Most Admired Enterprise” for 6 consecutive years, and won the “2004 China 500 Most Valuable Brands” award; in 2006, it won the “Asia 500 Most Valuable Brands” award. Its creative program and excellent hosts and commentators have also been well received, and have received many praises from all walks of life. Furthermore, Phoenix News was selected as one of the “Five Most Influential Websites in China in 2004” and selected as one of the “2004 Top 100 Chinese Business Websites”. Liu Changle, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Phoenix TV, has also received awards in various elections. He is known as “Media Wise Man”, “Chinese Business Leader”, “Asia Pacific's Most Creative Chinese Business Leader”, and “Global Chinese-language Program Supplier Leader”. In July 2004, Mr Lau was appointed Justice of the Peace by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. In March 2005, Liu was added as a member of the Hong Kong National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. In November 2005, Mr Lau was appointed by the Hong Kong Government to join the Economic and Mainland Economic Cooperation Committee of the Hong Kong Strategic Development Commission and became one of the 40 unofficial members of the committee. Since 2005, he has been the chairman of the International Emmy Awards TV Festival. In February 2007, Ernst & Young awarded Liu the “Media Entrepreneur Award” of “EY Entrepreneur of the Year China 2006” in recognition of the outstanding achievements made by his leader Phoenix TV in the field of Chinese media and his visionary leadership and innovation ability.
