Weidan International (Holdings) Limited was listed on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2003. The Group is a leading manufacturer of amino acid products, food additives and starch industrial products using fermentation technology in the Asian region. Weidan International's products are sold to food distributors, international trading companies, and manufacturers of food, paper processing, textile and chemical products in Vietnam, other ASEAN countries, China, Japan, Taiwan, and some European countries. Most of the Group's products are sold under the “Weidan” brand. Since the 70s, our MSG products have been sold to Vietnam, China and other ASEAN countries. In order to speed up market development, the Group established Vietnam's Weidan as its main production base in 1991. Since then, the business has continued to develop and the scale of production has continued to expand. Currently, it is the largest producer of monosodium glutamate in Southeast Asia. Within Vietnam, it is the largest supplier of lysine and starch industrial products. The Xiamen Maotai plant was acquired in 1995 to focus on the Chinese market. Furthermore, in 2004, it acquired the assets and monosodium glutamate business of Shanghai Weidan Food Company as its operating center in China, with a view to fully developing the Chinese market. In November 2005, Vidan Vietnam completed the acquisition of Weitai Tapioca Starch Co., Ltd., which will provide the Group with a stable supply of starch and strengthen the production base for starch products. With our production facilities in Vietnam and China, the stable supply of upstream raw materials, advanced fermentation process technology and other advanced biochemical processing technology, as well as the rich experience and knowledge of the management team, the Group enjoys superior competitiveness in the industry it is engaged in.
