Meta agreed to pay $1.4 billion to settle Facebook facial recognition data lawsuit in Texas. The lawsuit involves Meta's unauthorized use of biometric data of individuals in photos and videos uploaded by users on social media websites. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a lawsuit against Meta in 2022 and will continue to pursue similar lawsuits involving biometric data against Alphabet, Google's parent company.
