The company was formerly known as Shanghai Yimin Department Store Corporation, a state-owned large and medium-sized commercial enterprise in Luwan District. In September 1993, it was restructured as Shanghai Yimin Department Store Co., Ltd. with the approval of the Finance and Trade Office of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government. The company was listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange on February 4, 1994. In October 2007, the company changed its name to Shanghai Yimin Commercial Group Co., Ltd.; in November 2010, the company was once again renamed Shanghai Yimin Commercial Group Co., Ltd. The company has developed into a comprehensive commercial enterprise with various business formats including commercial wholesale and retail, commercial property leasing, pawnbroker industry, catering and tourism. The company's main products are commercial wholesale and retail, commercial property rental management, hotels, catering and tourism, pension services, and online sales. By the end of the reporting period, the company had a total of 852 physical stores with specialty chain brands (399 self-operated and 453 franchised), distributed in major business districts and department stores in large and medium-sized cities across the country.
