The company was founded in August 1954 by the Compilation Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Longmen Joint Book Bureau founded in 1930; as a pilot unit for the reform of the central cultural system, it was restructured into Science Press Co., Ltd. in April 2007; completed the shareholding system reform in 2011, and the overall change was established as China Science and Technology Publishing and Media Co., Ltd. On January 18, 2017, the company was listed on the main board of the Shanghai Stock Exchange, becoming the first stock listed by the Central Publishing Group. The company's main business includes book publishing business, periodical business, publication import and export business, and knowledge service business.
