Bank of England official Mann stated that a 100 basis points rate cut is too aggressive, which is contrary to the views of most of her colleagues.
United Kingdom's central bank official Catherine Mann stated that cutting interest rates by 100 basis points in the next year would fuel inflation. This means she differs from the majority position of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) that supports a gradual rate cut. "100 basis points is too aggressive," Mann said at an event hosted by Brown Brothers Harriman on Thursday, "this would be inconsistent with my view on future demand conditions and the sustainability of underlying inflation." Mann's statement above was in response to questions about comments made by MPC member Alan Taylor earlier this week.
