Toyota plans to pay higher prices for parts produced in Japan to help suppliers increase wages.
Toyota Motor announced on Friday that it plans to raise the prices paid for domestically produced components in Japan to enable suppliers to increase wages, thus helping Toyota maintain a stable supply base. Earlier, the Japanese government expressed a desire to see small businesses join large companies in this year's annual wage negotiations, calling for significant pay raises. Toyota's network of domestic parts suppliers has expanded to about 0.06 million companies, and its position in the annual negotiations is viewed as a barometer for Japanese companies.
