Typhoon "Shanshan" weakened after hitting Kyushu Island in southern Japan, and is expected to bring heavy rain as it slowly moves towards western Japan. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the maximum sustained wind speed near the center of "Shanshan" is 65 knots (120 kilometers per hour), near Amakusa City in Kumamoto Prefecture.
