JAL and Japan Green Electrical Utilities Development have signed a memorandum of understanding for the commercialization of domestically produced SAF utilizing non-standard coconuts.
(Joint press release) Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. Japan Green Electrical Utilities Development Co., Ltd. Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, President: Mitsuko Tottori, hereinafter referred to as 'JAL') and Japan Green Electrical Utilities Development Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President: Gen Kimizuka, hereinafter referred to as 'Japan Green Electrical Utilities Development') have signed a memorandum of understanding on November 20, 2024. Both companies, working on promoting domestically produced SAF, use unsuitable coconuts for consumption (hereinafter referred to as non-standard coconuts) as raw materials.
NAA, JAL, and Keio University conducted the first earthquake disaster prevention drill at Narita Airport on December 6th.
(Joint Release) On November 22, 2024, Keio University, Narita International Airport Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "NAA"), and Japan Airlines (hereinafter referred to as "JAL") will conduct an earthquake disaster prevention drill at Narita Airport on December 6, 2024. This will be the first collaboration between the three parties for conducting an earthquake disaster prevention drill. The drill will simulate a scenario in which a strong earthquake measuring 6 or more occurs, with the assumption that it is observed at Narita Airport, focusing on the operations within the passenger terminal building.

JAL applies for fuel surcharge for international cargo.
JAL has applied to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for the Japan International Cargo Fuel Surcharge to be effective from December 1, 2024. Based on the average price of jet fuel in October 2024, which was $87.80 per barrel, the fuel price index is set at "Above 85.00 but below 90.00", and the surcharge amount will be 62 yen per kg (for long-distance routes such as Americas and European index), 37 yen (for long-distance routes in Asia), 33 yen (for short-distance routes in Asia). The first symposium of ACT FOR SKY was held.
On December 2, 2024 (Monday), ACT FOR SKY will hold the "ACT FOR SKY Symposium - Opening Up the Future Skies, the Forefront of Domestic SAF -" at Haneda Airport. ACT FOR SKY is an all-Japan initiative aimed at achieving carbon neutrality in the skies through the development and dissemination of a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) supply chain in the country. This initiative, which started in 2022 with 16 participating companies, has now grown to include 45 companies and organizations.

Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, President: Mitsuko Tottori, hereinafter "JAL") and Morioka Shuzo Co., Ltd. (Taruishi City, Kagoshima Prefecture, President: Satoru Mori, hereinafter "Morioka") have celebrated their 25th anniversary of starting to sell shochu "Morioka" on Japan Airlines aircraft in 1998.
