The decision has been made to decommission Unit 2 of the Toyama Power Plant and the new Unit 1 of the Karata Power Plant.
We have decided to discontinue the No. 2 Toyama Power Plant (0.5 million kW, heavy crude oil) in Toyama City, Fukuoka Prefecture, as well as the new No. 1 Karata Power Plant (0.36 million kW, coal) in Karata Town, Kyoto District, Fukuoka Prefecture, and we would like to inform you of this decision. Regarding the No. 2 Toyama Power Plant, the equipment has aged significantly, and for the new No. 1 Karata Power Plant, the equipment cannot adjust the output flexibly. With the recent progress in renewable energy introduction, it has become difficult for them to serve as adjusting power sources, hence the decision to discontinue them.
