Pullback

US market pulled back on Thursday as investors wait for Powell’s speech at the Jackson Hole symposium on Friday.
Probably most are adopting the wait and see approach.
On a side note, new jobless claims rose slightly more than expected, which might have dampened yesterday’s mood.

Soft inflation data

Stocks ended Wednesday’s session on a higher note as we got yet another soft inflation data.
The latest CPI showed that the US inflation falling is falling, which gives market and the Federal Reserve a further boost for a rate cut in Sep.
The carpet is laid out nicely for the Fed
Meanwhile, S&P 500 has recovered and recouped all the losses from its 5th Aug’s sell off.

Last week was a rollercoaster week! S&P 500 clocked its worst and best day since 2022 in just 1 week.
What happened: last Monday, we saw a global market sell off. But by the end of the week, the US stock market has staged an incredible comeback by recovering almost all of the week’s losses!

Then maybe…write against that base when volatility is high and/or shares are up. And keeo building that base and hold it through thick and thin. Last Thurs, we also saw a rotation out of megacap tech stocks into defensive and other sectors such as real estate and utilities. But on Friday, investors could not resists themselves and started to put money back into the Big Tech.
