In June, American enterprises increased their hiring at a more moderate pace, with slow wage growth, reflecting a gradual cooling of labor demand. According to data from the ADP Research Institute, the private sector in the United States added 150,000 jobs in June, mainly due to employment growth in the leisure and hospitality industry. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg estimated a median increase of 165,000. "Job growth has been steady, but not widespread," said Nela Richardson, chief economist at ADP. "If not for the rebound in hiring in the leisure and hospitality industry, June would be a poor performer."
