The price of gold price is scaling to new all time highs with a swag of reasons all coming together to suggest more gains are ahead. But this week Gold moved up as debt concerns rose. Global debt is now US $300 trillion - that’s 3.3 times greater than world is making in income (known as GDP).

FOMC meeting is coming this week and 25 bp rate cut is widely expected by the market. After the CPI and PPI report this week meeting expectations showing inflation is slowing and jobless claim holding, the stock maket started to melt up again. I would be very cautious here. The market seems relaxed anticipating the start of the next bull run once Fed starts the rate cut. However if the economy outlook is strong, would Fed really need to do a “series” of rate cut?

I expect we should see some bounces here and there but deeper corrections to continue as money rotation continues in the market. Remember, nothing goes straight down and nothing goes straight up. Gold miners are starting its Q2 reporting with NEM first to report after market close today. AEM will report next Wednesday and followed by others in AUG. I think gold miners will have very strong upside on revenue, EPS and healthy cash flow due to recent higher avarage gold price between Q2 and Q1.

NEM will report its Q2 earnings Wednesday July 24th. In Q1 of 2024, gold prices averaged around 2,050 per oz. In Q2, gold prices averaged even higher at around 2,350 per oz. This is $300 additinal dollar of profits that goes into the company’s bottom line for every oz of gold mined. Costs remained flat QoQ.
