Sources: Japan's competition watchdog raids Amazon Japan

According to reports, a government source said that Japan's Fair Trade Commission conducted an on-site inspection of Amazon Japan on Tuesday on suspicion of violating the Anti-Monopoly Law. The source stated that Amazon Japan, a subsidiary of Amazon, is suspected of inappropriately urging sellers on its e-commerce website to lower prices in exchange for favorable positioning of their products on the site. The anonymous source said: Some people suspect that Amazon Japan is forcing sellers to lower prices in an irrational manner.
