An extremely unusual winter storm has begun to wreak havoc across the southern USA, with Houston and New Orleans both issuing warnings for record snowfall, while Texas's power grid will once again face the test of severe weather. A low-pressure system has cast a blanket of cold over a vast area from Texas to North Carolina, leading to widespread paralysis in both Railroads and civil aviation Transportation. "The system will cause heavy snowfall across the entire southern Gulf of Mexico," meteorologist Donald Jones said, "followed by another strong cold front and even more biting temperatures, which is highly unusual for the Gulf Coast."
