South Korea To Inspect All Boeing 737-800 Jets After Crash
After the aviation accident, South Korea will conduct safety inspections on all Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
The South Korean government announced on Monday plans to conduct safety inspections on all Boeing 737-800 aircraft operated by domestic airlines. This follows the crash of a Jeju Air aircraft of the same model the previous day, which resulted in 179 fatalities. It is believed that none of the aircraft's three landing gears functioned properly during the crash on Sunday, involving a Boeing B737-800. An official from South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport stated, "The government plans to comprehensively check whether airlines are complying with various regulations related to the utilization, flight checks, and maintenance records of Boeing models." Boeing 737-800 aircraft are widely used by domestic low-cost carriers in South Korea.
The South Korean authorities will conduct strict safety inspections on Jeju Air.
The South Korean government announced on Monday its plan to conduct strict safety inspections on the budget airline Jeju Air. This comes after multiple landing gear issues with the airline's aircraft, which led to a major aviation accident the previous day that resulted in the deaths of 179 people. On Sunday morning local time, at Woonan International Airport in Woonan County, 290 kilometers southwest of Seoul, flight 7C2216 of this airline veered off the runway during a belly landing and caught fire after colliding with a fence, resulting in the deaths of all 179 people on board. Earlier on Monday, another flight operated by Jeju Air took off from Gimpo International Airport and encountered landing gear issues during the flight.
Is Boeing in trouble again? After the deadly plane crash in South Korea, Boeing's after-hours trading dropped over 5%.
On December 29, a Boeing 737-800 passenger plane from South Korea's Jeju Air skidded off the runway during landing and exploded, resulting in 179 fatalities; after the incident, Boeing's stock price plummeted by 5%, and Jeju Air's stock price fell sharply by 16% to an all-time low; American Airlines experts believe this incident is different from the fatal incident involving the Boeing 737 Max jet.
Is it Boeing's "fault" again? After the deadly crash in South Korea, another Boeing aircraft of the same model reports a malfunction.
① Two major aviation disasters occurred last week, including a Boeing aircraft from Jeju Air in South Korea that stalled and crashed, resulting in 179 fatalities, marking the largest global aviation disaster in nearly a decade; ② Following the incident on Sunday, another aircraft of the same model in South Korea reported landing gear failure on Monday, but it safely returned to base; ③ The investigation is focusing on bird strike incidents and landing gear failures, and the true cause of the accident cannot yet be determined.
