Bank of America Securities: Downgraded ZOOMLION's earnings forecast for the next two years, Target Price lowered to 7.3 HKD.
Bank of America Securities released a Research Report stating that ZOOMLION (01157) will have a profit margin in the fourth quarter of 2024 that falls short of expectations and will incur foreign exchange losses. Management expects that following a three-year downturn, domestic demand in the Machinery industry will gradually recover in 2025 with the support of central policy, and there are plans to further increase the proportion of export revenue. Based on lower revenue and profit margin forecasts, Bank of America has reduced its earnings forecasts for the next two years by 7%, lowering the Target Price from HKD 7.6 to HKD 7.3, and reiterates the 'Buy' rating considering overseas expansion and new business development plans.

Channel surveys conducted by the bank show that YADEA's wholesale volume in the first quarter of 2025 is expected to achieve over 60% year-on-year growth, while the wholesale volume in the second quarter is expected to grow by 10% year-on-year, benefiting from a low base, new product launches, inventory replenishment, and subsidies for trade-ins. Tariff Uncertainties

We had a nice end-of-the-day rally last Friday - likely driven by President Trump’s statement that he would maintain 'flexibility' regarding the reciprocal tariffs.

Powell saved the market?

The Fed had decided to maintain the interest rate at current level. The latest dot plot showed that the central bank forecast it would cut interest rates two times in 2025. Both came in line with expectations.
During the press conference, Powell also brushed away talks about stagflation. He further gave some assuring pointers: Labor market conditions are solid, and inflation has moved closer to their 2% longer-run goal.

Low volume

The market had rallied for 2 consecutive days but I’m not quite convinced by it due to the lack of strength and volume.
We had relatively low volume last Friday and yesterday (Monday). This means not a lot of buyers are stepping in, while sellers took a temporary pause.
I’m guessing many are waiting for Wed’s FOMC meeting. Jerome Powell’s press conference is key.
