Anglo American will sell its remaining coal business to Peabody Energy for $3.8 billion.
Anglo American announced on Monday that it has reached an agreement to sell its remaining steelmaking coal assets to American mining company Peabody Energy for up to $3.775 billion. Anglo American stated that the deal includes $2.05 billion in upfront cash consideration, $0.725 billion in deferred cash consideration, up to $0.55 billion in price-linked earnings, and $450 million in contingent cash consideration. "Selling our steelmaking coal business is in line with our goal set in May to build a world-class copper, high-quality iron ore, and crop nutrients business."
