Telecoms have high debt. The cost of interest on that debt is high. As interest rates fall, they will slowly climb. Check the price again this time next year.

It's one of the highest paying dividend stocks out there. If you're looking for gains just put your money elsewhere. I've been in the red with Telus for like a year and half now but I'm actually at a positive given the amount of dividends its given me.
