By the end of the day, the market had regained some ground lost when the FOMC released less promising inflation predictions for 2025 after cutting rates on Wednesday.
At the closing bell 4 pm ET, the S&P 500 climbed 1.28%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 1.52%, and the Nasdaq Composite Index climbed 1.21%.

2024 Recap and Fireside Chat

2024 is finally coming to an end and its been a great 2nd year bull! The jounery is full of ups and downs! Recaping some of the key moments to remind myself and lessons learnt.

TheTradingDad OP 102087425 : My Wheel Strategies depends on how bad I want to get the stock or the IV environment. Usual set up 30-45 DTE, 16 Delta and aim to get at least 1% premium, manage at half the life of the option and profit take 50%. I don’t do much Leaps and credit spreads wide spread same DTE and Delta can be slightly higher depending on the IV and IV rank. Cover calls 30-45 DTE and at least 16 Delta away. Managing the position will be more discretionary as things changes fast example like Rolling and cutting loses. Each one’s style will be different base on their risk tolerance etc. these are some examples for knowledge and practice makes perfect. I have been trading options for 2 years and learnt a great due from my loses lol. Hopefully I can find sometime to write on each of these strategies in more details next year all the best man!

102087425 TheTradingDad OP : So your intention for wheel startegy is to acquire the stock, then you start selling call right? how do you decide when to roll or close out? also why do you take 16 delta for sell put and CC? when you say profit take 50% means once your option price start to increase and your net premiums drop by half you close the position?
