Futures on the $Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI.US)$ were nearly flat. $S&P 500 Index (.SPX.US)$ were little changed and $Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC.US)$ futures dipped 0.3%.
The moves in futures trading came after the U.S. House of Representatives late Friday passed a more than $1 trillion infrastructure bill, sending the legislation to President Joe Biden for his signature. Horton (DHI.US)$ $Beazer Homes USA (BZH.US)$ Consumer confidence in the United States unexpectedly strengthened in October, and concerns about high inflation were overshadowed by improved labor market prospects, suggesting that economic growth is picking up after a turbulent third quarter. The World Enterprise Research Institute's consumer confidence index rose to 113.8 in October, ending the previous three-month consecutive decline. Good news is also coming from the real estate market. The US Department of Commerce said in a report that in September, new home sales surged by 14.0%, with an annual rate of 800,000 after seasonal adjustments. The United States Federal Housing Finance Bureau report shows that in August, house prices jumped 18.5% year-on-year, and July rose 19.2%, a record. This shows that the price rise has reached its peak.

Pending home sales rose 8.1% in August month-on-month, according to the National Association of Realtors. This exceeded estimates for a 1.4% monthly rise, based on Bloomberg consensus data. In July, pending home sales fell by 2.0%. Pending home sales are -6.3% down compared to last year.
Lawrence Yun, the NAR’s Chief Economist, said “Rising inventory and moderating price conditions are bringing buyers back to the market. Affordability, however, remains challenging as home prices are roughly three times wage growth.
