AmarStock : someone been losing money keep going up up and away

74314490 : Hello! I am a stock market novice. I have a question to ask. It's my first time selling a covered call which expires today, and my strike price is 51. Why didn't the system automatically exercise the option? If the system doesn't exercise it automatically, how can I do it myself? Please advise, thank you!

Moomoo Buddy 74314490 : Dear user, when you Hold covered call options, you are the short sell side of the options. When the options are exercised, the options clearinghouse will randomly pair the uncovered short positions with the exercised options. If your Account is designated for assignment, you will need to deliver the underlying shares (if you are the writer of a call option) or buy the underlying shares (if you are the writer of a put option).
Generally speaking, in-the-money options will be exercised at expiration. If you hold a short in-the-money option on the expiration date, you may receive an assignment. In actual trading, due to the decision-making power of the buying party on whether to exercise, which may also be based on their own trading strategy, they may choose to forego exercising or exercise the option early (whether in-the-money or out-of-the-money). At this time, the short option holder may not be assigned (if the buying party foregoes exercising) or be assigned out-of-the-money (if the buying party exercises proactively).
