Gold performance
As of August 13, spot gold is reported at $2,463 per ounce, and futures gold is at $2,503 per ounce, just a step away from the historical high of $2,522.5 per ounce. Since the beginning of 2024, gold has risen by more than 20% overall, constantly setting new historical highs.

When the spit hit the fan, gold held up better than Bitcoin. Bitcoin may or may not be a better investment. However, it is clearly not a better store of value. I remain long actual physical gold as well as the SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) and the Goldman Sachs Physical Gold Fund (AAAU).

i held gld from 170-around today's price after silicone valley bank crashed a few years ago. this chart shows corelation between usd and gold. I wish I'd held longer but i went all in on sp500 exposure instead. they definitely inverse from each other. it's risky because these rate things are supposed to be meant to raise the value of usd would if successful should drop gold but cutting rates too soon cause more infl...
