South Korea's leading battery manufacturer LG Energy Solution Ltd. stated on Tuesday that it is considering acquiring shares in General Motors' joint venture battery plant in Michigan. In a statement, LG Energy Solution said, "The company is considering acquiring the joint venture 3rd factory of Ultium Cells in Lansing, Michigan, to effectively operate its factories in the United States and maximize the utilization of the Michigan plant."
