Recently, several Google Maps users have complained on platforms such as Reddit that their 'Timeline' feature's historical location data has inexplicably disappeared. Google has now confirmed that a technical failure has led to the deletion of some user data, and users who did not enable cloud backup will not be able to recover it. A Google spokesperson stated in an email statement: 'We encountered a brief technical failure that resulted in the deletion of timeline data for some users. Almost all users utilizing encrypted backup can recover their data, but those who have not enabled the backup feature will permanently lose their data.' According to posts, Google provided a similar explanation in its email response to users and guided those who have already enabled the feature.
