According to market sources, an investigation by India's antitrust institution, the "Competition Commission of India," found that Apple engaged in "abuse of conduct and practices" by using its dominant position in the iOS app store market. Since 2021, the Indian Competition Commission has been investigating whether Apple may be abusing its dominant position in the app market and forcing developers to use its proprietary in-app purchase system. However, Apple has always denied any wrongdoing, claiming that it is a small company in India and that Google's Android system dominates the market in India. The investigative department of the Competition Commission of India is detailed in this 142-page report.
