Carlos Watson, the CEO of Ozy Media, was sentenced to nearly 10 years in prison on Monday for lying to investors in his now-defunct digital Venture to attract big-name investors and falsely claiming to have the backing of giants like Goldman Sachs. In July of this year, the 55-year-old Watson and the company were found guilty of repeatedly misreporting Ozy's revenue to secure funding. The case gained notoriety after he instructed his co-founder to impersonate a YouTube executive during a conference call with Goldman Sachs bankers. The USA prosecutors had urged the judge to sentence Watson to 17 years in prison, citing his involvement.
