• Athenagow OP Jinmyburbank : hmm but why only call specifically though :) ? But selling calls are usually only allowed if you hold the stocks since naked call selling is too dangerous.
  you can try - YouTube  I check his video occasionally for his us macro insights mainly

• Jinmyburbank Athenagow OP : so, i saw and was interested in 2 call contacts for Applovin stock for sale at $420 when the stock price was at $490 the other day. my cost would have been around $3,600 total. So, i could have sold those contracts the next day and pocketed the difference from the 420$ strike price i paid for and the stock price of 490$? is this how it works basically? thanks for any info

• Athenagow OP Jinmyburbank : If I understand correctly, you seem like describing that you wanted to buy a call option instead.
  Buying call option means you pay premium while selling call option means you are paid premium within a mentioned period. Expired contracts are worth nothing
  Assuming I understand correctly that you wanted to buy call options, each contract is worth 100 share and cost $1800 / contract.
  Therefore the break even cost is 420$ + 18$, and your minimal profit is at 490$ (if you closed it) is the difference of $5200 per contract. However contracts could also expire worthless after the time period if it doesn't head in your desired direction resulting in your loss

• Jinmyburbank : yes yes this was it. it seems like a pretty easy buy and sell procedure. i asked Chatgpt what my profits would be at those prices and it said 10k minus the cost i paid of course. so yes call options. So, it sounds like those are pretty simple it just seemed kind of too good to be true i would  make 10k minus the $3,600. cost i paid. but if its this simple then yes i think i should do these. thanks for the help
