104730749 : you're not interpreting the news properly. The idea that TSMC come to help Intel re-structure their Fab is a Trump request. However, Trump wants Intel to maintain control of their fabs instead of a foreign firm operating their fabs. TSMC aiding Intel will be a boost to US chip industry once a proposal is successfully made.

sean lys : the reason and the only reason that TSMC will agree to step in and help this loser Intel is that because the management is pro US and pro Taiwan independence. the sad part is majority of the high end chips are produced in Taiwan and Taiwan is too close to China. As long as China remains a threat to Taiwan, TSMC will need US's protection. If TSMC ever turn to pro China, ASML can switch off their EUV lithography machine remotely, thus kill the company completely.
So Trump simply give TSMC a deal, help Intel and they'll get the protection they needed.

Yolo Bull Trader OP sean lys : The only reason why china don't attack Taiwan is because of tsmc..if tsmc openly share their secret to Intel, they are revealing their biggest asset for "protection" that us ambiguously will not commit to put into writing?
so the question, tsmc help Intel, hel with what and yet not reveal their biggest asset.. think about it.. and you think once tsmc confirm they work with Intel, trump will announce Taiwan independence? will protect Taiwan from china? end up, Taiwan losing leverage overtime, how is that beneficial..you can keep continue your bullish theory, there is nothing solid other than just talks and rumours..
