MonkeyGee OP 104692892 : I'm not sure if I fully understand the question.   But I think you are asking this.  If Intel sold, the shareholders have to approve the sale and the price.  Let's say Microsoft offers $45 a share to buy INTC.  Then, they need majority shareholders to accept that offer.  in most cases, the institutional investors are enough to meet the majority vote.  But typically, once the market hears about a possible buyout, the stock price would jump to the buyout price.
