• Shootingstar : may I ask how would her policy of unrealised tax gains work? Say if I were a millionaire and had a 1000 shares in Tesla now with no gain/loss if it were at 200. I would be taxed straight away with 40% at its ath price of 400 or a higher evaluation? 400-200/100 then x 40?

• 10baggerbamm OP Shootingstar : and nothing has been finalized with regard to what the tax implications would be on unrealized games if she goes through at a 25% tax I mean you'll see the stock market sell off 10,000 points because you have people that have been in forever that have long-term positions that typically get passed on to family members they become part of an estate or they get gifted to a church upon their passing or charitable organization make a wish something like that. I know Mark Cuban has been pounding the table in the past few weeks saying oh no no it won't happen that way and it was only talk and rhetoric and she's not going to do that. she may come back and say it's a 10% on realized game I don't know and I don't think anybody knows what the implications will be. is it going to be based off of a dollar amount so if you have a million dollars worth of Apple from 20 years ago that's now going to become taxed or is it going to be based off of your net worth if you're worth 10 million or 20 million or 50 million and you have these unrealized games you're now going to pay. so there is nothing concrete because nothing has been finalized. and I think some of the concern for Buffett holding so much cash more than the Federal reserve has is maybe he knows what's going to happen maybe he has a little bit more insider information of what the implications would mean. so us little peons and myself is in this group of peons we're just along for the ride at this point because nobody knows and nobody can say for certain what would happen

• Shootingstar 10baggerbamm OP : thanks for the information. nothing written yet it seems I agree too but looks like many are fleeing the stock market out of fud of this. some of the wordings you used sounds like it could fall under inheritance tax which Japan already has if I am not mistaken.

• 27182818 Shootingstar : You would have to subtract your unrealized losses on the same date.  So in the end it would only replace one market distortion (pressure to lock in gains & losses by Dec 31) with a different one.
  It's not practical, it would not increase tax revenue, and there is 0% chance it will happen.
  It's doesn't matter what the president wants. Congress would have to do it and that's not politically possible.
